The Sustaining Power of God

It is amazing how God has not only promised, but how He has sustained His
children even through difficult times.  Our comfort is knowing that we have a
Heavenly Father who is in control and that we can trust Him in all things.  I am
reminded how the children of Israel were lead through the desert, but the word
of the Lord states that not even their shoes wore out, when they needed food,
God provided.  When they needed water God provided!

He said if the flowers of the field and the birds of the air are cared for by God,
how much more does our Heavenly Father love and cares for us!  I wrote in my
last article that the best is yet to come, and I really believe that!  You see when
crisis comes; God has the opportunity to reveal His power!

When a famine hit the land, God told Elijah to go to a water brook and there God
would sustain him.  Elijah's obedience to God's word resulted in The Sustaining
Power of God!  God sent birds to bring Elijah food every morning and evening!
God's promises are true and we can stand upon His word!  How awesome it would
have been to experience the personal provision by God in that situation.

Most Bible scholars believe that Elijah was there approximately 2 years, then
when the creek dried up because of lack of rain, God provided another miracle
through the hands of a widow woman who was about to cook her last meal for
her and her son.  She only had enough oil and corn meal for one more meal for
her and her son.  Elijah gave her instruction by the word of the Lord to cook him
a cake first, she obeyed and the meal barrel did not fail nor did the jar of oil!
Wow how awesome to experience the very provision of God!  You talk about
God's sustaining power!

In both cases we must realize that trust and obedience Preempted God's
Sustaining Power!  I believe that best is yet to come because God's Sustaining
Power is still very real and working today!  The worlds system does not provide
the best, God's Sustaining Power seen in its awe, causes one to stand back and
say God you really do care for me!

Love you,
Pastors Buck and Janice
